SAP Calculations
Standard Assessment Procedure is a calculation recommended by the Government to measure the overall energy efficiency of a domestic property.
It produces a rating between 1 and 100 based on the amount of energy required for space heating, water heating and lighting. Tagged onto the SAP rating is a Predicted Energy Assessment which gives the dwelling an Energy Efficiency Rating on a scale between A and G with A being the most efficient. This is a similar scheme to that used for Electrical Appliances.
The SAP calculation is undertaken at Design stage to check for compliance and at Completion to reflect any changes that may have been made during the construction. A Predicted Energy Assessment (PEA) is provided at the Design stage which can be used for marketing purposes, the actual Energy Performance certificate is provided when the dwelling is complete and the full postal address known.
